One of Them Days
From Issa Rae (producer) and Color creative doing the damn thing, the writer, Syreeta Singleton and Director, Lawrence Lamont had a vision, and they executed that shit so well. One of the days was so good damn funny, very relatable characters and just felt genuine. It had a wonderful cast, and it felt like they let the actors what they do best and that’s make people laugh. This cast was stacked! Keke Palmer (Druex) SZA (Alyssa) Joshua Neal (Keshawn) also to note, this was Joshua’s first movie debut, and the brother did such an amazing job. I have been following him on Instagram for a few years now and this man is so incredibly talented, it’s so awesome to see him on the big screen, doing what he loves. GO FOLLOW HIM ON THE GRAM! Gabrielle Denis (A Black Lady Sketch Show, The Upshaw’s) This woman is so funny, and I really want to see her in bigger roles! She has got so much range! Another person who really shined in the movie and I didn’t recognize is Aziza Scott who plays Berniece. First off, that character was not fucking playing. She was that bitch, I also really thought she played the character well and can’t wait to see what else she gets into.
The movie is about two best friends who are tired of settling and need to get their shit together while simultaneously need to come up with their rent money, make it to an interview and not kill each other. Druex is the more responsible friend, and Alyssa is the carefree can’t take accountability type of friend. Forced through ridiculous hardships they are no longer able to lie to themselves or each other, and learn sometimes you just have to go for it and fucking do it. Fear can’t always win.
