HARLEM: Season One
We are following the lives of four friends. Four friends who are all struggling, growing and learning from their mistakes. Or at least, they’re trying to.
Meet Camille (Megan Good) A professor at Columbia University who struggles balancing career and love. A misconception that we must choose. Camille refuses to settle especially after her last break up. While fighting for tenure at her job she must prove that she can be more than a social media activist. Will Camille find true love while proving She’s down for the count?
Meet Angie (Shoniqua Shadia) A free spirited Artist/Singer that used to be signed to a label to figuring out her next move while on her best friends couch. Angie is one of my favorite characters. She does not make herself small in any situation. Instead she knows her worth and won’t stop until she finds her journey and peace. Will Angie find her true passion? And possibly her own crib? Lol
Meet Tye (Jerrie Johnson) Tye is one of the youngest and first Black Queer techs who creates the first dating app for Queer BiPOCs. If you asked Tye, they would say they never settles for less. But with many secrets poppin up, will Tye finally embrace their true self? Or continue to be afraid of WHO she falls in love with?
Meet Quinn (Grace Byers) A struggling fashion designer, Quinn does her best with keeping her store a float. Even if it means asking her mother (The One and only Jasmine Guy) for money. Can Quinn prove to her mother she can be a successful designer? Or will she fold under the pressure?
Harlem is a true treasure. With resemblance to favorites like Girlfriends, ADW, and Insecure this is another Black T.V. Show that we need. The topics, the jokes, the relatable content just keeps hitting. I can’t wait for season 2 and I can’t wait to continue to watch the journey of these four wonderful women who continue to remind us, we can do anything. We just have to be there for each other!
